Archery in Great Britain is regaining popularity in schools, colleges and universities and participation is at an all-time high. Archery GB, the National Governing Body for the sport has developed ‘Arrows Archery’ a child friendly equipment and resource package to introduce Archery in a fun and safe way in almost any setting and designed to be delivered by teachers and sports co-ordinators without any training, formal Archery experience or qualifi cation, so you can get started straight away! Included within the Arrows resource is a suggested competition format for the primary School Games.
British Wheelchair Basketball
British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB) is the national governing body for Wheelchair Basketball in the UK and represents the UK internationally. BWB runs a proactive development programme committed to increasing participation and a successful league programme with one hundred teams playing Wheelchair Basketball on a weekly basis.
UK Cheerleading Association
The UK Cheerleading Association, (UKCA), is a National Governing Body for the Sport and offers extensive training courses for Coaches, Cheerleaders, Judges, Offi cials, Young Leaders and Volunteers in the disciplines of Cheerleading, Stunting, Tumbling, Street Cheer, Cheer Dance & Pom Dance. UKCA is responsible for organising Cheerleading competitions; these are thrilling, exciting and very noisy events where everyone is encouraged to take part and have fun! UK Dodgeball Association
Dodgeball is a great game to get involved in at school. Whether playing, leading or coaching, it has something to offer to everyone. The UK Dodgeball Association (UKDBA) is the National Governing Body and is responsible for the development, delivery and promotion of the sport. Goalball UK is the National Governing Body responsible for running the sport in the UK. Goalball UK are working hard to develop new clubs nationwide and are regularly holding ‘have a go’ sessions along with a referees course for ‘new’ offi cials to help support domestic competitions. Goalball is also one of the School Games activities and Goalball UK have developed a sports format for intra and interschool competition to encourage all young people to participate in Goalball, including those with a visual impairment. British Gymnastics (BG) is the UK national governing body for the sport of Gymnastics, dedicated to developing gymnasts, coaches and clubs across a range of disciplines. The British Gymnastics Partner Schools Programme provides a comprehensive, cohesive and sustainable framework for developing a Gymnastics programme in schools, be it curricular or extra-curricular. Handball is the most exciting, high scoring, action packed team sport that can be played anywhere by anyone – for fun or competitively. England Handball, is the growth engine for this multi-skilled sport, and wants everyone to have the chance to ‘be part of the excitement’ of Handball. Using their expertise, insight and knowledge, they have worked in partnership with Bishop Sports and Leisure to develop a range of equipment and resources to meet the increasing demand for handball in schools. Orienteering is an exciting cross curricular sport that can be delivered within the classroom, playground or on school grounds. Orienteering provides multiple learning opportunities across the Key Stages in which a young person can enjoy both mental and physical challenges. British Orienteering, the National Governing Body, has in partnership with Bishop Sports and Leisure developed a range of equipment suitable for schools that are introducing the sport of Orienteering.
Tchoukball is a non-contact sport that is easy to learn and is an excellent alternative to traditional sports for encouraging team play and sportsmanship. Tchoukball UK is the National Governing Body, a major aspect of their work is with schools where in the junior and middle age range the game is steadily becoming an accepted part of the curriculum. Volleyball England is the National Governing Body and is committed to leading the growth of, and excellence in all disciplines of Volleyball in England. ‘Let’s Play Volleyball’ is Volleyball England’s National Youth Programme and is a game-based approach whereby small sided games (2 v 2, 3 v 3 and 4 v 4) are used to take players sequentially through the skills required to play.
