Active Play - Early Years

The Early years are the start of the educational journey, each child is unique and the learning process is complex. Through our involvement with the Youth Sport Trust and the ‘Start to play’ programme, we are privileged to have been provided with the opportunity to consult with many pre-school settings. Throughout our discussions it became apparent that practitioners were concerned that parents/carers did not adequately understand the importance, for children of pre-school age, to gain the basic skills developed through interactive play.

Bishop Sports and Leisure were therefore delighted to be approached by Stevenage Sporting Futures Team (SSFT), formerly Stevenage School Sports Partnership, to assist them in the development of the ‘Go Project’.

The Go Project is aligned to the Change4Life campaign and is specifically conceived to encourage parents and carers to not only interact with their children in their home settings but also to help them develop the basic skills which form an integral part of the physical development requirement for the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.
