Start to play is a fantastic tool kit of opportunities
to provide innovative and exciting ideas for
children to be
active. The range of equipment is bright,
colourful and has been purposely selected for the
young. The Fizz
and Friends Books make the resources unique,
the books are great as stand-alone stories but
the themes
of agility, balance and coordination help to
support children’s fundamental skills in a fun and
interactive
way. The activity cards help to bring the stories
to life and have ideas and tips for supporting
communication, language and literacy as well as
social and emotional development.
The resources included are:
Eight Story Books
Containing the characters Fizz, Dee Dee and
friends. The books are based around the
fundamentals of
movement: Agility, Balance and Co-ordination
and each incorporates a rhyme to encourage
repetition and
aid learning.
19 movement Cards
Featuring instructions for games and activities
and suggestions on how to incorporate the
equipment into
those activities.
Audio CD
An Audio CD of the storybooks narrated by
Denise Lewis. There is also a music CD
containing 15 specially
commissioned tracks.
Inclusion Cards
A set of 24 Start to play inclusion cards, made up
of eight themes, each theme having three
activity cards.
